Reaching the World for Christ!
by David J. Stewart
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” —Matthew 28:19-20
This is “The Great Commission” from Christ to all believers. All born-again believers are to be soulwinners, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. Oh how the world needs Jesus! Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe because we owed a debt that we could not pay. Most believers have been CHOKED by the cares, riches and pleasures of this world (Luke 8:14). We are living in a wicked generation of apostasy, evil agendas, sinful compromise and liberal theology. The world is not going to be reached for Christ through entertainment and music.
I recently browsed through the webpages of an Independent Fundamental Baptist College. They offer internet classes now to earn a degree. They count life-experiences toward earning a degree. My how things have changed over the decades. When I went to Bible college (1985-1993), there was no internet, and I drove hundreds-of-thousands of miles to get my degree, and I earned every credit. I was saddened as I glanced over their website. It just felt dead and empty. They offer a music class and advertise it as reaching the world through music for Christ. May I say, if the world is going to be truly reached for Jesus Christ, then it will be through the plain, uncompromising, offensive TRUTH OF GOD'S WORD!!!
The world cannot be reached through music and entertainment. All such churches are doing is attracting worldly people who would never step foot into a Bible-preaching church. My website ministries are IN YOUR FACE TRUTHFUL. They are offensive. God loves people; but God also HATES evil (Proverbs 6:16-19). God commands those who love Him to HATE EVIL (Psalms 97:10). The apostate ecumenical movement only talks about love, unity and cooperation; but Biblical Christianity includes hatred for sin, separation from unbelievers, and an uncompromising stand for THE TRUTH.
If the New Testament church is going to reach this world for Jesus Christ, then it will only be through THE TRUTH. Jesus taught that God the Father desires for people to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). You cannot worship God in manmade traditions (Mark 7:6-13). Jesus rebuked those phonies who worship God with their MOUTH, but their HEART is far from Him...
Matthew 15:7-10, “Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand.”
The death knell of a Bible college is so blatantly obvious when they stop proclaiming the truth and start embracing the world. The Bible college I mentioned earlier has a picture of a person singing, which looks very worldly. They are attempting to appeal to the worldliness of youth today, who are straddling-the-fence. It makes God want to vomit (Revelation 3:15-16). Everyone is straddling-the-fence these days between God and the world, for the sake of paying the staff's salary. It's all about money, money, money.
I am so glad that I don't receive donations, and never will. Hell will freeze over before you ever see a donate button on my websites. I'll sweep floors at Burger King before I'll receive a donation for serving God. Anytime money is involved, preachers sell-out. Jack Van Impe and his wife sold out, praising the evil Roman Catholic religion, and calling Pope John Paul II as the greatest spiritual leader of the 20th century. May I say, all of the Pope's (past and present) are of the Devil, teaching for doctrines the sinful commandments of men.
I heard the pastor of an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church say publicly to a gathering of hundreds of pastors and full-time Christian workers that he no longer believes in the inspiration of the King James Bible. I was shocked. It broke my heart. I had previously greatly admired that man as a Bible teacher, but he has proven himself shameful as a pastor, shaking his congregation's faith in the precious and INSPIRED King James Bible. I think the pastor knows he shot himself in the foot, but his pride and arrogance run deep. God knows my heart. Bless God, I wouldn't give you a dime for any so-called “preacher” who doesn't believe 100% that the Bible he holds in his hand is INERRANT and INSPIRED!
I pray for that wayward pastor who denies the inspiration of the Bible from time to time, but I feel like I'm wasting my time because of his pride. What's so wrong with just saying, “I was wrong and have changed my beliefs.” I've changed some of my beliefs over the years; such as my views on the age of the earth. I once believed in a young earth out of ignorance, but have since learned in recent years that the earth is indeed very old. I've heard Evangelist John R. Rice (1895-1980) and Pastor Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) both admit that they once taught heresy, but have since corrected it. They are two of my favorite preachers, because they are honest with a pure heart and a desire to preach THE TRUTH.
I've taught heresy myself at times. I'm learning every day and have to eat my words from time to time. When I started my website in 2002, George W. Bush was still U.S. president and I taught that Christians should support the president, no matter how wrong he is because he is our leader. Boy was wrong! It's never honorable nor righteous to be complicit to crime, silent about evil, to go along to get along, and to be loyal to criminals. The Bible teaches in Ephesians 6:13... and having done all TO STAND!!! Verse 14 says to have our loins gird about WITH TRUTH! Boy, that word TRUTH is mentioned a lot in the Bible. Jesus proclaimed that He is the way, the life, and THE TRUTH (John 14:6). In John 17:17 Jesus prayed for the Father to sanctify His disciples, saying, sanctify them through thy truth, THY WORD IS TRUTH!!!
John 18:37, “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto THE TRUTH. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
Preaching THE TRUTH is very unpopular. It gets some people assassinated, like John the Baptist. Others go to prison like John Bunyan for 12-years (or Kent Hovind for 10-years for not taking a license). Some are banned, sued and persecuted relentlessly and their name destroyed. My websites and YouTube videos have been banned in some foreign nations. I've been threatened with lawsuits multiple times. I've had my name dragged through the mud, lied about and maliciously attacked by ungodly heathens who despise THE TRUTH. My reward is in Heaven (Luke 6:23). Amen!
That's why I try to stick to the fundamental basics of the Christian faith. I do expose the occult, government crimes and wickedness in highplaces; but when it comes to theology I like to keep ringing the bell of the Doctrine of Christ, coming judgment, a literal Heaven and Hell, Christ's bodily resurrection, the virgin birth, Jesus' deity, the Godhead, salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ, and so forth. Most churches today are adopting secular psychology instead of Bible doctrines. You can't mix the two, because then you have Psychoheresy.
God wrote the Bible to say exactly what He wanted to say, the way that He wanted to say it, without apology nor compromise. The idea that we must compromise in order to win the world to Christ is a false doctrine of devils. If a worldly person won't receive the truth without having a religious rock concert at church, then they don't really want to come to Christ in the first place. They are coming to the world. As the church becomes more worldly, so also is the world becoming more churchy. God wants us HOT or COLD (Revelation 3:15-16). I am on the Lord's side (Joshua 24:15).
Present Your Bodies a Living Sacrifice
Romans 12:1-2, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
It is only reasonable that we should dedicate our lives to God and tell others about what Jesus did for us. God wants us to be witnesses of the gospel of Christ, we should not be ashamed.
"Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." —Mark 8:38
So many believers are sitting on their blessed assurance filling eighteen inches of pew, but they never witness to any lost sinners with gospel of Jesus Christ. Instead of standing on the promises, many are sitting on the premises. While the world is going to hell, we have the peace of God in our heart that we are going to heaven. We must help others come to the same saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. It might be uncomfortable for us to witness to people, but hell is real folks. It is our lack of faith that hinders us from telling others about Christ.
If we truly believe in our hearts that there is a hell where Christ-rejecting sinners will someday be tormented, it should burden our hearts to warn them. If we don't warn them, who will? We read in Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." If we would only yield our heart and mind to God in thanksgiving, then we would want to make God happy by soulwinning. If we truly love God and want to please Him, then we will have a burning desire to witness to the lost concerning Jesus Christ.
There are so many ways to witness to people. I once met a man who drove a garbage truck for a living. Do you know what he did to reach people while collecting garbage? He had written out the plan of salvation on several separate 3" x 5" cards and then stapled them together. He would give them to people he met each day on his route. He wrote them all out by hand. Now that's a testimony if you ask me.
I had the privilege of leading a Mexican gentleman to the Lord at work. I gave him a gospel of John to read and a bunch of gospel tracts to give out. He thought of the idea of putting a dollar in each tract as he handed them out to people. Of course, he couldn't afford to give out too many that way, but it was his way of letting people know that he cared about them. Remember...people don't care what you know, until they know that you care. Could you spare a dollar?
Now you may not want to go as far as painting "Jesus Saves" on the side of your car for everyone to see while your driving down the street, but I've seen that done too. The bottom line is that we must get the gospel out to lost sinners. Hell is real folks and every day brings us one day closer to death. Our days are limited. Once we die, then we can work no longer to win the lost to Christ. Will we have tears and much regrets in heaven? Now is the time to witness, it isn't too late! Let's get busy for God by preaching the gospel to the world.
There are so many ideas which can be used to win the lost to Christ if we just have the desire to get busy for God. Let's make as many opportunities as possible to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out to the lost souls of this wicked world.
In addition to our own personal soulwinning, we need to support world missionaries through a local New Testament Baptist church. Do you know that people in many parts of this world live on less than $1 a day? In fact, over one billion people (1.4 billion). The people in these poorest nations are hungry for the gospel. These are the forgotten people on our planet. They need to hear about Jesus too. Many false religions such as the Jehovah Witnesses and the Mormons are hard at work in these poorer countries. It is the responsibility of God's children to see to it that the gospel is preached to the world. This is one of the functions of the local church, world missions.
